Tutoring marketplace

Every student one search away from the right tutor.

Tutors publish lesson packages under the subjects you define. Students narrow by price, rating and how soon a tutor can start, answer the intake questions before lesson one, and leave a review that decides who ranks next time.

Finding the right tutor

A catalogue a student can actually narrow down

A directory of every tutor helps nobody. What a student needs is the four or five who teach their subject, fit the budget, have the reviews and can start this week, which is exactly what the browsing tools are built to do.

Four ways to narrow the list

Subject
Your own categories, nested as deep as you need. GCSE Maths can sit under Maths, and a student browsing Maths still sees it.
Price
A minimum and a maximum, so a student with a budget sees only what fits it.
Rating
A floor on the star rating, for a parent who wants a proven tutor and nothing else.
How soon
Within 24 hours, 3 days or 7 days, which answers the student who needs help before Friday.

And five ways to order it

  • Recommended
  • Newest
  • Best rated
  • Price: low to high
  • Price: high to low

Whatever a student picks survives the next click. Filters carry through pagination, and a keyword search is not thrown away when they set a price range.

  1. Browse the subject

Filters and sort narrow the list, and the choices stay put as the student pages through results or refines a keyword search.

  2. Compare tutors

Each listing shows its packages and prices; each profile adds the rating, the earned level, completed lessons and average response time.

  3. Pick a package

Three per listing: a single lesson, a block of five, a full term. Each with its own price and turnaround.

  4. Answer the intake questions

The tutor sets them per listing from eight question types. Year group, exam board, what the student is stuck on, a photo of last week’s homework.

  5. Agree the times, then teach

Tutor and student settle scheduling in the order thread and share whichever meeting link they use. Everything about the lesson stays on that order.

  6. Review, and come back

The student rates communication, quality and delivery. Those ratings feed the tutor’s level, which feeds how they rank for the next student.

Tutor profiles

Reviews and response times that help students choose

Every tutor gets a public profile with a bio, their listings, average response time, completed orders and reviews. Tutors can answer a review in public.

Ratings with detail
Students rate communication, quality and delivery, and write what the lessons were like.
Levels earned, not claimed
Rising Seller and Top Rated come from orders, ratings, response and delivery rates. You grant Pro Seller by hand.
Facts beside the bio
Average response time, active listings and completed orders sit next to the tutor's introduction.
Public profile with a verified badge, 1 hour response time, six services and a five-star review with a public reply

A public profile: 1 hour average response, six listings, and a five-star review the provider answered.

What the plugin handles, and what you pair it with

A tutoring business needs a marketplace, a calendar and a classroom. WP Sell Services is the marketplace. Here is the honest split.

WP Sell Services
Free plugin

Your choice
Tutor profiles, subjects and search
Lesson packages with prices 3 per listing
Intake questions before lesson one
Payments and your commission Stripe, PayPal, offline

Students find, pay, prepare and review in one place on your site. The live lesson happens in the calendar and video tool your tutors already use.

What a multi-tutor business runs on

All in the free plugin unless marked (Pro). Nothing here schedules or streams lessons.

  • Subjects as categories

Organise tutors by subject and level with categories and tags, and search that autocompletes.

  • Filters students actually use

Price range, rating and delivery time filters, plus sorting by rating.

  • Three lesson packages per listing

Name them your way, such as single lesson, bundle or monthly support, each with its own price.

  • Intake before the first lesson

Up to 5 questions per listing, unlimited in Pro: text, choices, dates, links or file uploads such as past papers.

  • Reviews and tutor levels

Multi-criteria reviews, public tutor replies, and levels that rise with real results.

  • Ask the tutor first

A contact button on each listing emails the tutor a question, with attachments, before a student pays.

  • Tutor approval

Require approval for new tutors, and moderate listings and reviews before they go live.

  • Commission per tutor

One rate from 0 to 50%, custom rates for individual tutors, and tiered rules (Pro).

  • Tutor payouts

Tutors request withdrawals, and you mark them paid or export a CSV. Stripe Connect payouts (Pro).

  • Vacation mode

A tutor away for exam season pauses new orders with a message and a return date.

Inside a tutoring marketplace

Three packages on one listing. A tutor sells a single lesson, a bundle and a premium plan the same way.

A student's orders in one list, each with its status: awaiting approval, in progress or completed.

Students save listings to Favorites while they compare tutors.

A tutor's listing manager: active listings, drafts and anything waiting for your review.

Free for your first tutors. Pro when payouts scale.

Pay once and own it forever, or pick the annual plan. All features included in every plan, no hidden add-ons.

Tutoring marketplace questions, answered straight

Does it include a booking calendar?
No. There are no time slots or availability calendars. Tutors agree lesson times in the order's messages, often by sharing a link to the scheduling tool they already use.
Can lessons happen on video inside the site?
No. There is no built-in video classroom. Tutors send a Zoom, Google Meet or similar meeting link in the order messages.
How do I sell a bundle of lessons?
A tutor creates a package, such as four lessons, with one price. The plugin tracks the order, delivery and revisions, not attendance at each lesson.
Can tutors charge a monthly subscription?
Not today. Recurring billing is not available in Free or Pro. A monthly plan can be sold as a package the student buys again.
What can a tutor ask before the first lesson?
Up to 5 questions per listing in Free, unlimited in Pro. Fields include text, dropdowns, checkboxes, dates, links and file uploads.
How do students judge a tutor they have never met?
Profiles show reviews rated on communication, quality and delivery, plus response time, completed orders and a level earned from real results.
Can students post what they need instead?
Yes. A student posts a request with a budget and timeline, tutors send proposals, and the student hires one.
Where is student data stored?
Orders, messages and reviews live in your WordPress database. Tools, Export and Erase Personal Data include the marketplace records.

Give your tutors a storefront and your students a clear choice.

Subjects, listings, packages, intake, messaging, reviews and payouts are all in the free plugin, on unlimited sites.
