What do I need before installing the bundle?

What is the difference between a forum plugin and a community platform?
A forum plugin handles topics and replies. A community platform handles the social layer: member profiles, activity feeds, groups, messages, moderation and members-only areas. bbPress and Jetonomy are forum plugins. The Community Bundle extends BuddyPress into a community platform.

Can I make my community members-only?
Yes. BuddyPress Private Community Pro locks BuddyPress components, chosen pages and custom post types for logged-out visitors, with a login form, shortcode or redirect. Restrict Email Domain limits who can sign up by email domain, which suits intranets and company communities.
Does it work with LearnDash, MemberPress and WooCommerce?
Private Community Pro restricts community areas by LearnDash, LifterLMS, MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, Restrict Content Pro or WooCommerce Memberships level. With a multi-vendor plugin, BuddyVendor adds vendor product tabs to profiles and can post new product, review and order activity.
Does it run on BuddyBoss Platform?
Most of the bundle does. The plugins that check for BuddyPress also pass on BuddyBoss Platform, and several declare BuddyBoss support directly. BuddyPress Polls, WP Stories, Advanced Username Manager and Restrict Email Domain work without either.
Is WordPress better than a hosted community app?
It depends on what you already run. A hosted app needs no install or hosting. WordPress keeps members and posts in your own database, uses your theme and domain, and connects to the LMS, memberships and store you already use. If your site is already on WordPress, the bundle is the shorter route.
